9 July, 2022Compression girdles or garments for post-operative body surgery
Post-surgical girdles or compression garments are well recognized in the post-operative period of body surgeries due to their multiple benefits for the recovery stage and for the success of the final result.
These girdles are designed with special fabrics to achieve adequate compression to the body and help keep the tissues in place and accelerate the anti-inflammatory process.
Each patient must have their girdle with their specific size which will be placed after the operation. That is why Dr. Franklin Peña includes these garments for the recovery of his patients.
The postoperative girdle is designed with elastic fabrics, especially to exert adequate pressure on the operated area, without causing discomfort. Depending on the type of surgery (abdominoplasty or liposuction), the time of use and the evolution of the patient may vary, although they are generally recommended during the first 4 to 6 weeks.
Benefits of post-surgical girdles after abdominoplasty or liposuction:
- Reduces bruising: The accumulation of blood, liquids such as serum in the tissues can cause risks inherent to body surgeries such as liposuction, abdominoplasty or gynecomastia. The pressure exerted by the girdle during the first few days helps the body reduce the appearance of bruises or bruises.
- Less possibility of infections: As fluids accumulate in the intervention areas, the risk of superinfection decreases.
- Decreases recovery time: The compression exerted by post-operative garments increases and optimizes blood and lymphatic circulation, reducing fluid retention. When fluid retention occurs in the patient, it can increase the risk of skin lumps or fibrosis, which increases recovery time.
In any of the body surgeries, the purpose of the girdle is to contain the tissues and contribute to the recovery process, accelerating the anti-inflammatory process and helping the patient to recover without experiencing pain.
